Today I decided that I wanted to blog my journey of doing P90X. It all begin when I didn't lose the weight I wanted for my wedding. My wedding of all things, was not motivation enough for me to lose weight. I am also a volleyball coach and convinced myself that I would workout with the girls. They are in 8th grade - we don't have a weight room and there is only so much I can do with them (so I thought). I failed there too. Then in October, I went to the doctor and they weighed me and the number I was staring at was horrifying to me. I have never been this heavy before. From there, the conversation started with JJ and we decided we both needed something drastic. I wanted something that was going to kick my ass, like when I was in high school. I needed that push because I wasn't pushing myself. JJ ordered P90X. We got all the equipment we needed: yoga mats, yoga blocks, bands, heart rate monitor, and dumbbells. We read the nutrition guide and went to the store. A week's worth of food was $200! ( We will be modifying that by going to the Quick Option).
Monday we began our first DVD of Chest and Arms and then Ab Ripper X! Wow - was I surprised how out of shape I am. I struggled with most of the push ups and the Ab Ripper X dvd is insane. However, we do it 3 times a week and I will improve.
Yesterday, we did Plyometrics! This will be my challenge. With having ACL Reconstruction surgery in June '07 and not keeping up with my therapy exercises at home, I really struggled through this DVD. Part of it, too, is that I am scared to hurt myself again. So I don't push myself to much. I know that and hate that.
Today, we will do Shoulders and Arms and then Ab Ripper X! We'll see how that goes. It's New Year's Eve and I can't drink, can't snack on foods - that is commitment!
